When I hear virtual realities I think of made up realties or realities not taking place in the real world. I don't feel that virtual realties are the same as the real world here and now.
Also, I do feel that "The media play a significant role in rewriting our cultural scripts, altering our perceptions, our social relationships and our relationships to the world." This is evident in the 80's or even in the 70's when there was a generational gap present. The generational gap occurred as parents did not care for the music their children listened to, and the kids did not care what the parents thought and this turned into a form of rebellion. During these decades the youth separated themselves from the norm, they rebelled from their parent’s rules and about the idea of sex. The media I feel had influence as musicians or media people helped push this idea of rebelling from the older way of living or the traditional way.
So in this way society was transformed cultural scripts. The culture wasn’t waiting until marriage to have sex and having sex before marriage was in the mainstream. Society started to stray away from the traditional setting of waiting until marriage to engage in intimate forms of connection.
